De La Soul has always been the latter, and Cabin in the Sky is shaping up to be the kind of record that doesn’t just play in the background — it sits down next to you and says, “Yeah, man. This is the group’s first album since the heartbreaking loss of founding member David Jude “Trugoy” Jolicoeur, who left us in 2023. If you’ve ever shouted “stakes is high!” alone in your car at 2 a.m. (what, just us?), this one hits differently.
