First things first.
I miss Stranger Things.
I miss the music. I miss the demogorgons. I miss that feeling of watching something and knowing it would never quite be replicated again. I’m patiently waiting for the rumored spinoff Tales from 1985 hoping it hits at least somewhere near the emotional bullseye of the original. Lightning doesn’t strike twice often. We’ll see.
Now let’s talk about Maya Hawke.
Yes, that Maya Hawke. Daughter of Uma Thurman — Pulp Fiction, Kill Bill, absolute cinema royalty — and Ethan Hawke — Training Day, decades of quietly brilliant performances. That’s not just Hollywood lineage. That’s cinematic DNA.
So when Maya pivots from acting to music? It makes sense. The talent pool in that family is not shallow.
The New Album: Maitreya Corso
Maya just announced her fourth studio album, Maitreya Corso, arriving May 1 via Mom + Pop. The lead single, “Devil You Know,” sets the tone — reflective, stripped down, and emotionally grounded.
She describes the song as a meditation on protecting creativity from greed and ego. Protect the precious from the poisonous. Protect love from control. That’s a pretty mature thesis for someone juggling acting fame and a growing music career.
This isn’t a vanity project. This is someone who has been quietly building a catalog since her debut, refining her voice across albums like Chaos Angel (2024) and earlier releases that leaned into folk-pop introspection.
She co-wrote much of the record with Christian Lee Hutson and Benjamin Lazar Davis, with longtime collaborator Jonathan Low handling production and engineering. That’s serious indie-cred company, not just Hollywood friends hanging around a studio.
The Tour Returns
This will be Maya’s first headlining tour in three years, kicking off April 10 in Woodstock, NY and wrapping May 2 at Bowery Ballroom in New York City.
Stops include:
Seattle
San Francisco
Los Angeles
Denver
Chicago
Boston
Washington, DC
And she’ll appear at the Tibet House US Benefit Concert at Carnegie Hall — which is about as “artsy respect” as it gets.
That’s not exactly a casual club run. That’s positioning.
Awards & Career Momentum
While Maya is still early in her music career compared to her acting trajectory, she’s already built credibility as a singer-songwriter with consistent critical praise and sold-out intimate shows. As an actress, she earned a Screen Actors Guild Award nomination as part of the Stranger Things ensemble cast.
She may not have a shelf full of Grammy trophies yet, but this is how long careers begin — with intention, not noise.
And let’s be honest. Being raised by Uma Thurman and Ethan Hawke doesn’t guarantee artistic depth. It guarantees scrutiny. If anything, she’s had to work harder to prove this isn’t a hobby.
The Bigger Picture
Maya stepping deeper into music feels natural. Acting gave her exposure. Music gives her authorship.
And whether you’re skeptical or fully on board, you have to respect someone who takes the risk of building something under their own name instead of coasting on legacy.
We’re here for it.
If you’re on Florida’s East Coast — Daytona Beach, New Smyrna Beach, Flagler Beach, Ormond Beach and surrounding cities — download the Static Live Music Calendar App to keep track of touring artists and local live shows. We’re expanding into new cities soon because music doesn’t sit still and neither do we.
From the Upside Down to center stage.
Maya Hawke is shooting her shot.
And we’re watching.
