Kasabian Delays Act III Album But Releases Funk-Driven New Single Superpowers

Reminds Us Why They’re One of Britain’s Most Underrated Bands

There are bands that dominate headlines, and then there are bands that quietly build catalogs so ridiculously good that you keep stumbling across songs you love without realizing the same group wrote them.

That’s Kasabian.

Seriously, I don’t think I’ve said this enough over the years, but I absolutely love Kasabian. They’re one of those criminally underrated bands that deserve far more attention than they receive, especially outside the UK. Ask someone if they’ve heard Fire, You’re In Love With a Psycho, Stevie, Club Foot, Empire, or Underdog, and chances are they’ll start singing along. Then tell them it was Kasabian and you’ll probably get the classic response:

“Wait… that was them?”

Exactly.

The Leicester rock outfit has announced that its upcoming album Act III has been pushed back from July 17 to September 4, giving the band additional time to make what they describe as a few final adjustments.

Honestly, I respect that.

In an age where albums are sometimes rushed out simply to satisfy algorithms, playlists, or quarterly earnings reports, Kasabian is taking the opposite approach. Their message to fans was simple: albums last forever, and they weren’t willing to release one until they felt it was completely finished.

That’s becoming a rare philosophy.

Fortunately, the delay isn’t arriving empty-handed.

To soften the wait, Kasabian has released “Superpowers,” a funky, groove-heavy new single that continues expanding the musical landscape first introduced with “Hippie Sunshine” and “Great Pretender.” Frontman Serge Pizzorno explained that he wanted to capture the same feeling he experienced hearing Snoop Dogg’s Doggystyle for the first time, that strange, exciting moment when your brain simply says, “What did I just hear?”

Mission accomplished.

“Superpowers” doesn’t sound like anyone else. It leans into G-funk influences while still feeling unmistakably Kasabian, proving once again that this band has never been afraid to experiment without losing its identity.

The accompanying music video also deserves attention, starring acclaimed British actor Stephen Graham, whose performance unfolds like an audition tape built around the song’s lyrics. Pizzorno has said he’s always been fascinated by audition tapes because they capture actors at their most vulnerable and authentic, and that concept translates surprisingly well into the finished video.

Meanwhile, Kasabian’s resume continues to speak for itself.

The band has achieved seven consecutive UK No. 1 albums, one of the most impressive runs in modern British rock. They’ve won multiple NME Awards, Q Awards, Brit Award nominations, and earned widespread praise for blending rock, electronic music, psychedelia, and dance influences into something entirely their own. Their explosive anthem “Fire” became one of the defining rock songs of its era, while tracks like “Club Foot” became staples of video games, sporting events, and festival stages around the world.

Yet somehow they still feel like music’s best-kept secret.

That’s part of their charm.

Every Kasabian album feels like opening a mystery box. You know something interesting is inside, but you never know exactly what shape it’s will take.

As for me, I’ll be waiting… as patiently as humanly possible.

Which, admittedly, isn’t very patient.

When you write songs that stay in people’s heads for years, fans don’t exactly become experts at waiting. Every new release feels like another chapter from one of modern rock’s most creative bands, and Act III already feels like it’s shaping up to continue that tradition.

The delay may sting a little.

The new music helps.

And judging by Kasabian’s track record, September can’t get here fast enough.
